When I was diagnosed with Selective IgA Deficiency back in July of 2016, I began getting into alternative medicine. I knew that in order to mentally and physically heal my body, I had to make a major adjustment in terms of my overall lifestyle. When I was introduced to essential oils, I never looked back.
In the beginning, I was reluctant to trying these oils. It honestly just seemed like a waste of money and time. But once I started physically, mentally, and emotionally feeling better, there was no turning back. For those of you who don't know what essential oils are, let me explain. Essential oils are the highly concentrated version of natural oils in plants. Although these oils are becoming increasingly trendy now in 2017, they have been used as natural medications for over 5,000 years. The uses of these oils range from aromatherapy, natural medicine treatment, beauty care, household cleaning products, mental health treatments, and much more.
Here's a list of some of my personal favorite oils that I always have in the house and the benefits they provide:
Lavender: Reduced stress & anxiety. I use lavender in my diffuser every night before bed. This relaxing scent provides a peaceful and serene environment. Lavender also relieves body aches. Any time I wake up with a stiff neck or back, I rub some lavender on the inflamed area and the pain subsides.
Peppermint: The "go-to" for headaches. Rub a little on the back of your neck or even in your scalp to relieve the pain and stiffness you get during a migraine or headache.
Lemon: This is my favorite energy booster. This amazing natural citrus smell is FABULOUS in the morning when you wake up. Put a little on your wrists or in your hands to give yourself that energy boost you need.
doTERRA's On Guard Blend: This incredible blend of Wild Orange Peel, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Leaf, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, and Flower essential oils, protects my immune system more than anything. If you're someone like me who has a shitty immune system, this blend aids in protecting you from environmental threats. I diffuse this blend in my room almost every morning, ingest it with some water once a day, and apply it to my skin after showering.
Grapefruit: I use a few drops of grapefruit essential oil every morning with my cup of tea. Grapefruit is an excellent aid to weight management and attacking fat cells in the body. I also rub the oil straight on my thighs to target problem areas. You can put a few drops in coconut oil to make a nice moisturizer.
**side note** you can find essential oils at any health food store. The reason why I prefer doTERRA oils is because they are highly concentrated and safe to ingest. I would rather spend a few extra dollars on oils that will actually work than on the generic Whole Food brands that aren't nearly as concentrated. They also last me MONTHS!!!
